Dr. Adena Scheer
Dr. Adena Scheer is a surgical oncologist who specializes in breast health. Her practice includes benign (non-cancerous) breast problems as well as breast cancer.
Adena completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at the University of Western Ontario and her Doctor of Medicine degree at the University of Toronto.
During her General Surgery Residency She then completed a Master of Science degree in Epidemiology at The University of Ottawa. She returned to Toronto for a fellowship in Surgical Oncology and travelled to Paris, France to study Oncoplastic Breast Surgery.
Dr. Scheer’s clinical interest is the surgical treatment of breast cancer. Using oncoplastic or plastic surgery and reconstruction techniques she aims to remove the breast cancer while preserving the natural shape and look of the breast.
Dr. Scheer’s research program focuses on knowledge translation and decision support. She aims to enhance patient centered care by enabling shared decision making between patients and the health care team.
She is appointed at St. Michael’s Hospital as a surgeon-investigator, at The University of Toronto as an assistant professor and at the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute as an Associate Scientist.
